Can A Family Man With a Salary of RM3,000 Survive In Malaysia ...?

Here is an analysis I received from a dear friend of mine. The situation couldn't be worse!

Let's do some simple calculations here.

In Malaysia , the average family income is RM3,000 /month
(where father works, mother doesn't).

I understand there are many families whose monthly income does not reach RM3,000, but, to make things simple, let's take RM3,000 as the figure. Ok lah, right?

Okay, let's start rolling with a family which has Papa, Mama, 1 daughter and 1 son. Ngam-ngam ....

Calculation starts...

Electricity and water bill: RM100
(No air-con, No home theatre, No water heater ... ok?)

Phone bill ( Telekom): RM100

Meals for a happy family: RM775
(3 meals on RM25/day, RM25 for 4 persons...?)

Papa makan / teh-tarik during working hrs: RM155
(RM5/day, RM5 ... can eat what?)

Car repayment: RM400
(A proton saga aeroback, 7 yrs repayment)

Petrol (living in city, traffic-jam): RM300
(go to work, bring son to school, only can afford one car running)

Insurance: RM650
(kids, wife and myself)

House repayment: RM750
(low cost housing repayment for 30 yrs, retired still have to work to pay!)

Tuition: RM80
(got that cheap meh? i don't think so)

Older children pocket money @ school: RM20
(RM1/day, eat bread?)

School fees: RM30
(enough ah?)

School books and etc: RM100
(always got extra to pay in school)

Younger children milk powder: RM50
(cannot have the DHA, BHA, PHA one, expensive)

Miscellaneous: RM100
(shampoo, rice, sauce, toilet paper)

Oh wait!!! I have to stop here, so...

No Astro,

no movie @ cinema,
no DVD,
no CD,
no online,
cannot KFC,
cannot McDonald,
cannot go Park walk during weekend (petrol expensive),
no chit chat on phone with grandparents, and etc...

Let's use a calculator to total up... WALAO EH! Shit! RM3,610 already...

EPF belum potong, income tax lagi........oledi RM3,610 ....

How to survive lah tuan-tuan dan puan-puan sekalian ???

Our Deputy Prime Minister asked us to change lifestyle?

How to change? Don't eat? Don't work? Don't send children to school and study?

Besides that, I believe in Malaysia population, there are millions of rakyat Malaysia who still don't earn RM3,000/month!!!

What is this? Inilah Malaysia Boleh... Sorry ... it should be Malaysians Boleh , because we're still alive and kicking!!

Our politicians must be mad!!!!

No wonder so many Ah Long around lah..........!!??

The Rakyat's satire with oil

I received the following poem from a friend. I would like to share this with all who care to read.

Minyak oh Minyak

Minyak naik lagi
Kenaikan paling tinggi
Semua letak tangan di dahi
Kecuali ahli keluarga Badawi
Dah tau naik minyak awai-awai lagi
Mereka beli berjuta-juta saham TNB
Kalau TNB naik seringgit pun jadi

Naik flight first class bukan kelas ekonomi

Menteri kata tak boleh elak lagi
Kerajaan terpaksa menanggung rugi
Sebab tak tahan nak bagi subsidi
Suruh rakyat berjimat bawa kereta 600cc
Gila punya cadangan wahai pak menteri
Hang lah patut berjimat awal-awal lagi
Cuba hang bawa kereta hang sendiri
Hang cuba ikut Umar atau cara nabi
Kurangkan program majlis rasmi
Majlis makan malam makan roti cicah kari
Sedap jugak sehingga menjilat jari
Tak payah udang besar atau mutton beriyani
Kurangkan impot artis luar negeri
Tak yah panggil Al Jarraeu atau Mariah Kari
Kurangkan jalan-jalan luar negeri
Ikut Guan Eng naik flight kelas ekonomi
Kediaman rasmi guna perabut buatan sendiri
Tak payah impot tiles dan perabut dari Itali

You all buat dulu baru bagi tau rakyat
Jangan suruh rakyat berjimat cermat
Tapi hangpa perangai macam taukua sumbat
Pandai cakap tapi tak pernah buat
Perut mereka di kampung telah lama diikat
Makan ala-kadar paling mewah air sarbat
Janganlah buat perangai munafiq dan jahat
Tuhan di atas sentiasa monitor dan melihat

On judge Ian Chin's revealation

The recent revelation by judge Ian Chin is self serving and does not do justice to the fact that he is one of the most respected custodian of law in Malaysia. The question is why has he kept quite all these while. He could have said it while the Royal commission was investigating the Lingam tape and when Tun Dr. Mahathir was called to testify. However, he kept his silence. If he was really that concerned, then he should have said these things at least immediately after Tun stepped down as the prime minister - i.e. if he was so afraid of Tun!

Another interesting point to note in his "revelations" is that it is so vague. If his allegations are true, then he should be more specific as to what actually happened and dates and names should be revealed as well. At this point in time I agree with Datuk Zaid, the Law Minister that there should be no more Royal Commission to investigate Chin's allegations (or is it Tun's misdeeds!). It will only be a waste of money, time and the rakyat's unnecessary attention. The Lingam tape fiasco has told us that all is not well with our judiciary. Nonetheless, the Law Minister and the Government are taking the necessary steps. Lets hope its works out well for the Rakyat!

The Mahathir delima

It is with great surprise that I read the resignation of Tun Dr. Mahathir from UMNO. While I am surprised at his resignation, I am not at all saddened by his actions. There is no doubt that Tun had done a tremendous job while he was the Prime Minister of Malaysia. However, for some reason only known to him, he has been on the war path with Abdullah Ahmad Badawi whom he hand picked to replace him. However, as the retired prime minister, he should have stayed "retired" and not meddle with the affairs of the country.

We have elected representatives who will do the job and the country will still be there for a long time to come. Malaysia will pull through just like other countries from its current problems. Tun should realize that it is futile to venture into a battle knowing full well that there is no hope of wining. Rather than keep on harping on Paklah to surrender his post (which Tun has no right to demand as the people have re-elected Paklah), Tun should just keep out of government affairs. Now he is out of UMNO he should keep out of it as well. Tun! You need not despair. Time and the good sense of all Malaysians will take care of the well being of Malaysia!

It is now very clear UMNO members are not quiting en mass as Tun would have expected. Tun has finally misjudged his position as a respected statesman. Tun should come to terms with the fact that he is just another citizen of this country albeit a very elderly one. Rather than undo what good that he did while in office, the time has finally arrived for him to go quietly and retire into the wilderness - i.e. if the law allows him to do so given the current state of affairs (Limgam tape fiasco)! I am sure many more chapters will unfold about the post Mahathirian era.

The message from UMNO seems to be clear - "Tun, you are out so stay OUT, we have to move on.........."

Tun, I wish you the best. Take care of your health.

The Keris Case

Hishamudin has finally come out clean from a debacle that has gone down in the history of Malaysia. It had, so it seems, resulted in the unprecedented revolt of the Malaysian public in the 12th general election. However, if we look more critically at the issue, it is not really about the keris wielding act that got the public reeling but rather what was said at the ill fated UMNO general assembly. While the the other races in Malaysia had checked their tongue as far as sensitivities of the racial composition of the country, UMNO members let loose their tongue and lashed out their so called racial supremacy in Malaysia. It is this unchecked outburst by the UMNO members which upset the Malaysians. While the Hishamudin issue seems to have settled, Malaysians must be very careful with what they say about each other. Mutual respect for each other, inside and out, should be the hallmark of Malaysian public for it to flourish into a just society.
